Keegan Thompson to IL, Vinny Nittoli DFA, Ethan Roberts Recalled

Keegan Thompson has been placed on the IL due to a rib fracture, making him the 15th Cubs pitcher to go down to injury this season. To fill his spot in the bullpen, the Cubs have recalled Ethan Roberts. The diminutive righty hasn’t pitched in the bigs since early 2022 due to Tommy John surgery, but he’s looked great in the minors and is a bulldog on the mound.

in other news, the Cubs designated Vinny Nittoli for assignment just one day after signing him. To take his place on the roster, they have selected the contract of Jorge López.
