Sources Confirm Cubs Have Offered Alex Bregman Four-Year Contract
The Alex Bregman sweepstakes heated up on Tuesday, with Astros GM Dana Brown seemingly bowing out of the race, and the Red Sox re-engaging with the Cardinals regarding Nolan Arenado.
Sources have confirmed that the Cubs have offered Alex Bregman a four-year contract, with opt-outs, worth north of $100 million@MATrueblood with @northsidebaseb was first with the report

Sources have informed CI that the Cubs have made a four-year offer to free agent Alex Bregman. The deal would have multiple opt-outs as well.
If Bregman does end up signing with the Cubs, a Nico Hoerner trade would likely follow. That would free up some money and open second base for Matt Shaw. Bregman adds offensive value and an experienced veteran presence.
There’s been a lot of discussion about whether the Crawford Boxes aided Bregman offensively and how much we would see a difference at Wrigley Field. Greg Zumach of Northside Bound posted this graph, which seems to imply that there wouldn’t be many differences. Alas, weather is also always a worry in Chicago.
Can’t assume this will transfer over directly, but there’s a narrative that Alex Bregman feasted based on the dimensions in Houston. There are some weather factors at Wrigley in 2024, but wouldn’t surprise me if the Cubs projected Bregman strongly for them with L*-center power. pic.twitter.com/hBoXOSBeoz
