Old Friend Kyle Hendricks Dominates Cardinals Once Again

Kyle Hendricks has always been the Cardinals’ kryptonite, owning a 2.53 ERA with 122 strikeouts against the Redbirds over his career. Even when he was struggling on the mound, facing the Cardinals was sure to be a bright spot.

Hendricks faced the Cardinals at Busch Stadium on Tuesday, throwing six innings of fantastic baseball. He allowed seven hits, but limited the damage to two runs with four strikeouts. The Professor has always been known for his excellent command, and that talent was on full display as he didn’t allow a single walk during his first start of the season.

During his 29 career starts against St. Louis, Hendricks has logged 185 innings. He’s logged 83.2 of these innings at Busch Stadium, including several memorable performances as a member of the Cubs. At Wrigley, Hendricks has a career 2.74 ERA against the Birds, including 57 strikeouts in 15 games.

He may not be on the Cubs’ roster, but beating up on the Cardinals is always appreciated. To make it even better, the Angels ended up winning in 11 innings.
