Justin Steele Placed on 15-Day IL with Left Elbow Tendinitis, Ethan Roberts Recalled
Just went it felt like everything was going just right for the Chicago Cubs, suddenly it’s not. The Cubs just announced that RHP Justin Steele was placed on the 15-Day Injured List with left elbow tendinitis, retroactive to April 8. Que the haunting music.
The Cubs have called Ethan Roberts from Iowa, which is surely a short-term move to help shore up the bullpen. Maybe he shoves and earns a spot in the ‘pen. The Cubs could sure use another reliable reliever.
There aren’t many other details on this right now, so we’ll be sure to update you when there are. Of course, this will scuttle the starting rotation. Javier Assad has been on a rehab assignment in Arizona, so it’s possible he comes back and slides right into the rotation. We’ll have to see.
For now, let’s just hope the Cubs get the sweep today against the Texas Rangers.
