The Rant – Chicago Cubs Podcast (Episode 164): Cubs Stumbling into Playoffs, Tucker Health Update, Playoff Preview

The Chicago Cubs clinched a spot in the 2025 MLB playoffs after sweeping the Pittsburgh Pirates on September 17. Since then, they’ve lost four straight games, getting swept by the Cincinnati Reds, who are also chasing a wild-card spot. The Cubs will need to pull things together quickly if they expect to make a run in the playoffs.

Kyle Tucker is still on the IL, and the Cubs have no idea if or when he’ll return. The Cubs’ offense desperately needs his big bat in the lineup to succeed. We’ll talk about that and the health of the rest of the team heading into the postseason.

And finally, we’ll take a look at the possible and likely matchups for the Cubs, as well as project their starting rotation for the postseason.
