Chicago Cubs Lineup (3/8/26): Mostly Regulars, Harvey Starting
The Cubs picked up a win against the A’s yesterday, and now have a matchup against the Giants. Team USA isn’t playing today, so there’s no conflict for those who want to watch this one. Those who tune in will get a look at hard-throwing reliever Hunter Harvey, who stands out as a departure from their normal bullpen construction strategy.
Ed. note: This breakdown prior to the release of the lineup, and the Cubs opted to start Caleb Thielbar instead.
The lineup feature mostly regulars, with Michael Busch at first, Nico Hoerner at second, Ian Happ in left, and Dansby Swanson at short. Michael Conforto handles the DH role, Moisés Ballesteros is behind the plate, Matt Shaw is in right, and Dylan Carlson is in center. Scott Kingery bats ninth at third.
Landen Roupp hasn’t allowed a hit over three innings, and he’s struck out four batters with just one walk. The low-slot righty doesn’t throw hard, but he makes up for it by getting loads of sink while also throwing a sweeping curve. That generates a lot of grounders and keeps hitters from making hard contact. Roupp is a pitch-to-contact guy who finds success by mixing speeds and locations.
First pitch is at 3:05pm CT on Marquee and The Score.
