Daniel Palencia Placed on IL with Right Elbow Inflammation, Gavin Hollowell Recalled From Iowa

If the Cubs pitching staff didn’t have bad luck, they’d have no luck at all. At least that’s how it feels through the first half of the 2026 season.

Daniel Palencia has just been placed on the IL with right elbow inflammation. This is definitely not something the Cubs needed right now.

Gavin Hollowell has been recalled from the Iowa Cubs in a corresponding roster move.

In another setback for their pitching staff, the Cubs placed closer Daniel Palencia on the injured list with right elbow inflammation. Gavin Hollowell was recalled from Triple-A Iowa as the corresponding roster move.
